The Lion The Witch and the Wardrobe: Thesis
The Forgotten Audience: Intentional Production Design to Reengage Children in the Performing Arts is a graduate thesis project that explores how production design can be used to create meaningful theatrical experiences for young audiences in an era dominated by fast-paced digital media. Through research in child development, audience engagement, and theatrical design, the project investigates how live performance can foster curiosity, imagination, and emotional connection.
The project culminated in a conceptual Broadway adaptation of The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, designed for children ages 6–12. Drawing inspiration from European fairy tales and contemporary theatrical productions, the design embraces the darker themes of C.S. Lewis's story while creating an immersive world that respects children's capacity for complex emotions, critical thinking, and artistic engagement.
